Jewish Life on Campus

Ryerson Hillel is the center for Jewish life at Ryerson University. With a large and diverse Jewish population at Ryerson, Ryerson Hillel provides unique opportunities for students to explore their own Jewish identity in a variety of ways. We offer programs created by students for students to engage them in the most meaningful experiences. Whether your interests lie in Jewish Life and Education, Tzedek and Social Action, Arts and Culture, Athletics, Israel, Leadership Development or anything in between, opportunities for involvement exist through Ryerson Hillel.

The Ryerson Hillel community has only been growing over the past few years, as evidenced by our brand new home, The Ryerson Loft! Right in the heart of Yonge-Dundas Square, the Loft is a great place for students to chill between class, get a quick cup of coffee, and for hosting our amazing events.

Ryerson Hillel is known for its weekly bagel lunches, which have recently been upgraded to weekly themed lunches, ranging from Fall Festivals Lunch, to Taco Tuesdays, and so much more!

Ryerson Hillel is also known for our awesome collaborative events. Highlights include our Open Mic Nights with the Musicians at Ryerson group and the Breaking Down Stereotypes of Chanukah & Christmas event with our friends in the Ryerson Catholic group. We will continue our annual ‘Kefi’ arts and culture event , in collaboration with the Armenian student group, Students Supporting Israel at Ryerson, and the Hellenic student group.

Hillel is very fortunate to partner with the Orthodox Union/Jewish Learning Initiative on Campus (OU/JLIC). JLIC strives to engage and educate Jewish students from varied backgrounds on campus by providing avenues for spiritual development and exploration. By placing warm, friendly, and talented educators on campus, JLIC inspires young adults to take ownership and responsibility for their Jewish lives and Jewish communities.

JLIC provides regular classes on a wide variety of topics both on and off campus, hosts social events throughout the year, and has a weekly minyan at the BAYT.
