Looking back on the past year, I am proud of the variety and depth of the programming at Hillel Waterloo. From Bubble Soccer in Waterloo Park to Paint Night in the Student Life Centre, our events have been diverse, creative and meaningful in different ways. We brought Holocaust Education Week to a new level, impacting hundreds of students with our walk-through narrative exhibit and by hosting a Holocaust survivor on campus. We formed new partnerships through our Interfaith Programming, such as our recent games night with the Muslim Students’ Association, and honoured the Jewish value of Tikkun Olam through our innovative Pack for Purpose program. I’m so proud of all that we were able to achieve this year.
I want to extend a huge thank you to the Hillel Waterloo executive team. Without your passion and dedication, Hillel Waterloo could not have been as incredibly successful as it was this past year. I am so happy and grateful to have had the opportunity to work with this team and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know each of you. As John Lennon sang “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.” As I reflect on 2016/2017, I smile as I recall the many spontaneous explosions of laughter that took place with students during the year at the most unexpected times!
Mazel tov to everyone on such a successful year! I can’t wait to see all of the great things that Hillel Waterloo will accomplish next! Not involved yet and want to find out more about how to get involved with Hillel? Reach out! (hyperlink) We’ll take you for a beverage of your choice on Hillel! See you soon!
