Dear Friends,
It’s been an eventful summer and I hope that everyone is staying healthy and coping with our new reality as best they can. Know that in what is sure to be an unprecedented year on campus, Hillel is here for you every step of the way, whether it is for programming, guidance, support, or just someone to talk to. We have a lot of ideas on how to build community virtually and (when possible) in person.
I am excited to share that we have a brand new staff team this year! While I (Elyse Wieskopf) will be returning as Director, I am pleased to introduce our new Program Director, Ariel Saffer-Spiro, Senior Jewish Educator, Rabbi Ariella Rosen, and Advocacy Manager, Ruth Chitiz. I speak on behalf of the whole team when I say that we can’t wait to meet you all and feel free to reach out to any of us at any time!!!
Many of you have questions about the Loft and how it will operate in the coming semester. While sadly the Loft will be closed until further notice, Ryerson students are welcome to use the Wolfond Centre at University of Toronto. The Wolfond Centre will be open as a study space as of September 14th and can be booked in advance to reserve a specific desk. Please stay tuned to our newsletter and social media pages as we will be sharing the sign-up link next week. We will continue to monitor and update our policy based on the city of Toronto guidelines.
It will be an interesting year on campus and we are excited to navigate these new waters together, as a community. Please know that Hillel will be here for you all year, whatever you need, so please, reach out to us anytime, we would love to hear from you.
Wishing you a great semester,
Elyse Wieskopf
Director, Hillel Ryerson (she/her)
