During my time at York University, I made lots of friends through Hillel York. I loved celebrating holidays with Hillel. And, I spent a lot of time listening to Israeli music with other students  who loved it as much as I did. Hillel was an essential piece of my Jewish campus journey.

For those reasons,  I was very happy to get the chance to come back and mentor younger students through Hillel York’s innovative “Kick Start Your Career” series. It was nice to be able to give back to the community and be there for the next generation of Hillel students. Being asked to share my experience as an alumna of Hillel and of York University was an honour. It was an opportunity for me to talk about my experience at Schulich and in my current career, and shed some light on my own struggles. It is my hope that my story will  help make students feel better about their career trajectory.

During the event, many of the students asked pertinent questions about which courses they should take, how to network successfully, and the type of skills that will make them more successful in life. The discussion eased most of their concerns and I was happy to share my personal experience as a recent graduate in the workforce.

As an alumna, I love that Hillel prioritizes the success of Jewish students post-graduation. Programs like these help shape and empower the next generation of  young Jewish leaders.

It is my sincere hope that students never stop believing in themselves. This self-confidence is the magic that will help them succeed in the world!

I look forward to continuing my involvement in these types of programs as a proud Hillel alumna.
