Honouring the Past, Building the Future

For decades, Hillel Ontario has been the heartbeat of Jewish life on campus for university students, becoming the largest Hillel International affiliate and enriching the lives of countless students through engaging, impactful, and memorable programming. During this time, our presence on campus has been felt during both times of simcha - joy - and tza’ar - sorrow. 

In the fall, we were catapulted into another period of tribulation following the October 7 terror attacks. Since then, political tensions have developed into a crisis on campuses across the province with nearly 400 reports of antisemitic incidents, a threefold increase over the number received in all of last year.

Unsurprisingly, engagement levels with Hillel have also dramatically increased. Finding strength in their own community, Jewish students have emerged as bold activists unafraid to reject antisemitism and counter anti-Israel rhetoric.

While we continue to empower Jewish students, and prepare ourselves for an arduous journey ahead, we think back to the incredible support we have benefitted from having dedicated community members like yourself sitting on our Board of Directors. Your wisdom and support have been invaluable, contributing significantly to our growth and impact, allowing us to be prepared for dark times such as these.

Though some time has passed since your board tenure, your perspective and input remain as insightful as ever. We are honoured to invite you to an exclusive Zoom lunch meeting on April 4 at noon, where you can reconnect with Hillel Ontario and learn about our vital efforts to combat dangerous anti-Israel rhetoric and our plan to move forward with the ambitious Hillel Strong Emergency Campaign, a $1M initiative to boost our capacity and reach throughout the province.
