A message
from our leadership

This report tells a story of resilience and pride across Ontario's university campuses during the most difficult year yet for Jewish students. Following October 7 and amid rising antisemitism, Hillel Ontario stood shoulder to shoulder with Jewish students, cultivating a vibrant and defiant celebration of Jewish life amidst ongoing challenges and attacks.

Marked by a dramatic 40% surge in engagement from last year, this report showcases Hillel’s achievements in empowering students so they can proudly embrace their Jewish heritage and passionately advocate for Israel. Through specially curated advocacy campaigns, cultural and holiday celebrations, and educational initiatives, we have equipped students with the tools and confidence to confront antisemitism and promote a true understanding of Israel on campus.

As we reflect on the story told here, we recognize Hillel Ontario cannot and will not be the same organization it was on October 6. This fall, we – all of us, working together – need to show up in record numbers, stand up more boldly and more proudly, and speak up more clearly and more forcefully than ever before. And we can only do that with people like you on our side.

On behalf of the 14,000 Jewish students on the campuses we serve, we say todah rabah – thank you – for standing with us in empowering students in their Judaism and Zionism. None of what you are about to read would have been possible without you.

This report is dedicated to the memory of the 1,300+ innocent Israelis who were tragically murdered in the October 7 terror attacks and soldiers who have lost their lives defending Israel and the Jewish people. May their memory be for a blessing.
