I hope everyone had a wonderful, if not very different first week back to school. Fall semester will look very different but Hillel is still here and looking forward to connecting with you. Most of our engagements and programming will be online this semester as we navigate with keeping you safe and following rules that have been set out to us by the clubs administration. Know that your student leadership and Hillel staff are working hard to maintain the amazing community we have and to keep everyone connected. Stay tuned for information about upcoming events and engagement opportunities!
I’m excited to introduce you to an outstanding line up of Hillel staff who will be making Hillel awesome this year. Rabbi Ben Shefter returns to us as our Senior Jewish Educator and we also have some new faces to introduce. Jemma Kaczanowicz joins us as our new Advocacy Coordinator, Noam Kamm, as our Springboard Innovation Fellow, and Jake Zeldin, Creative Strategist and Bradley Pines, Digital Strategist to work with us on our social media and marketing strategies. They are looking forward to connecting with you!
The fabulous student leadership has also been working along staff to create an experience to help keep everyone connected. Feel free to reach out to your Hillel president, Sam Neumark to connect with any ideas or questions you may have.
Regarding space, our office in Commons Building, B103 remains closed while the university is closed. Our Hillel house at 50 Sanders Blvd is open by appointment and scheduled meetings only. COVID rules are in place at the Hillel house – if inside, wear a mask, stay physically distance from one another, and sanitize upon entry and exit. If outdoors, please maintain your distance as well. Please be in touch with a staff member for more information.
Finally, a special welcome to all of the first years to McMaster. It’s not the year we imagined but we haven’t forgotten about you. Sign up for a welcome bag so that we can meet you and officially welcome you to Mac. Please know that Hillel will be here for you all year, whatever you need, so please, reach out to us anytime, we would love to hear from you. We hope to “see” you very soon!
Wishing you a great semester!
