McMaster and Beyond!

Written by Judith Dworkin, Director of McMaster Hillel

It’s the start of the year and we are so excited to meet all the new and returning students to McMaster. We have a full welcome back week calendar and many exciting things planned for the semester. First, McMaster Hillel is pleased to announce two new staff members who will be joining the team at McMaster University this Fall.

Beth Vander Stoep is McMaster Hillel’s new Advocacy Coordinator. Originally from Washington State, USA, Beth is a recent graduate of Northern Arizona University with a Master’s of Sustainable Communities.  Beth has a wealth of experience building connections on her local campus, and most notably, she was responsible for establishing the Jewish Students Association and building it from the ground up at Central Washington University.  Beth will work with Jewish students on campus building relationships and partnerships with our campus community and beyond.

Nevo Schipre is McMaster’s Hillel’s new Jewish Agency Israel Fellow shared with Guelph Hillel.  Nevo is an alumni of UJA’s Shinshinim program and is thrilled to be working with the Canadian Jewish community again.  Nevo is from Maalot, a small town in northern Israel and is most looking forward to getting to know students and working together on bringing Israel to campus. Nevo is excited to bring Israel education and experience to Jewish students on campus.

Can’t wait to see everyone back on campus next week!
