Vice-Chair of the Hillel International Board of Directors
“Skip,” is a senior partner in the management company, Quality Camping Properties, Inc. and President of GreyPine, LLC. He oversees camping operations on both owned and rented sites, day and resident camps, throughout the northeastern United States. In this role, he is one of the largest private camp operators in the United States.
Currently he serves as Vice-Chair of the Hillel International Board of Directors and is a member of its Board of Governors. In 2016 he chaired a board task force on Israel Education policy. Currently he chairs Hillel International’s Task Force on Public Statements.
In the Jewish world Skip has been active in the areas of day school education and summer camp. He is a past president of the Solomon Schechter Day School of Essex and Union Counties (Golda Och Academy), and for five years served as the chair of the National Ramah Commission – the camping arm of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America.
He is a past chair of the Foundation for Jewish Camp. During his term of office the FJC raised over one hundred million dollars to support Jewish Camping in North America. In recognition of his accomplishments as chair, the Foundation created the Vichness Conference Center as the focal point of its New York Office.
He is the holder of a Ph.D. in European History from Florida State University and in 2004 was awarded the Distinguished Medal of the Institute for Napoleon and the French Revolution. In 2011 Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion honored him with its American Jewish Distinguished Service Award.
