August has been a very exciting time for us over here at UofT. My name is Ariel Saffer-Spiro and I’m the new Innovation Springboard Fellow. My role primarily focuses on engagement and facilitating the programming dreams of our students. I previously worked for BBYO and I come to Hillel with a drive to ensure that Hillel is a place on campus for each person to feel valued and heard. My first day on the job was August 7th and it’s been a whirlwind ever since! Working out of the Wolfond Centre has been perfect because I’ve already gotten to meet so many students who have popped in to study for those summer school exams. (A recent graduate myself, this whole concept of summer school is surprisingly foreign to me, but I’m beginning to grasp the idea…)
Our empowered team of Jewish leaders, known as the Jewish Social Entrepreneurs (JSEs) are definitely gearing up for the exciting year ahead! Rabbi Julia and I have been working on some great High Holy Day programming and we can’t wait to host you for our Rosh Hashanah Dinner, and Yom Kippur Break Fast. On top of all the holidays that we have to look forward to, we’ve also been working with our JSEs to make sure that our incoming frosh, as well as returning students feel welcomed on campus. Check us out at our annual Welcome Back Block Party during the UofT Street Festival!
Subscribe to our newsletters to make sure that you are staying up to date with all the new ways to get involved with us on campus! And of course, feel free to pop on over to the Wolfond Centre at any point to say a quick hello or to check out our new selection of gourmet teas!
