While the literal translation of ‘echad’ in Hebrew is ‘one’, this word has become representative of the Jewish community at Western and around the world – especially since the atrocities of October 7th.
 
The rise in antisemitism both on and off-campus has only increased Hillel Western’s commitment to Jewish unity and solidarity. Hillel’s strong and unwavering presence on campus has made the Jewish community feel safe and supported, even in the most uncertain times.
 
Hillel Western has been essential to creating unity and a sense of stability within Western’s Jewish community. Our Hillel House has never been livelier, with both new and familiar faces coming to events, grabbing a snack, or just dropping in to say hi. And the needs of Jewish students at Western are far greater than they ever have been before.
