It’s that time of the year. We are trying to squeeze in those last moments of summer plans, preparations for campus life are underway, and our days feel overwhelmingly full with both those states of being.
This incoming academic year brings with it an all-new Western Hillel team to London. Now is the perfect time to introduce you to them!
Heading up the team is Scott Goldstein, Western Hillel’s new Director. Scott moved to London from Ottawa with his wife and their two sons. Scott most recently served as the Director of Community Collaboration at the Jewish Federation of Ottawa and previously as the Executive Director of Hillel Ottawa.
In addition to Scott are newlyweds Leora and Yos Tarshish who have recently moved to London from Jerusalem, Israel.
Yos is taking on the role of Assistant Director for Western Hillel and is actually a native of the ‘other’ London – the one across the pond. In previous roles he served as President of the World Union of Jewish Students while based in Jerusalem and was also President of the Union of Jewish Students in the UK & Ireland before that.
Leora hails from Cape Town, South Africa and is Western Hillel’s new Senior Jewish Educator. She has been an educator with the Masa Global Leadership Summit, the Jewish Agency’s Project Ten and HaMachon Madrichei Chutz L’aretz programs as well as the World Union of Progressive Judaism’s youth movement, Netzer Olami, in Jerusalem.
These three dynamic individuals are eager to get started engaging with Western’s large Jewish student population and invigorating Jewish student life at Western. They are also happy to be active members of the London Jewish community. You can find their contact details here: hillelontario.org/western/team/ and learn more “pertinent” information about them here.
