This reading week, Hillel students from across the province are coming together to give back to the community in partnership with Good Deeds Day! Want to see friends while making a difference? Then this is the event for you!

Who: You, your friends and other students from across the province
What: Are invited to give back to the community through volunteering with any of the following organizations: Reena, The Dani Centre, Jewish Immigrant Aid Services (JIAS), Second Harvest, Reaching Up Homework, The Scott Mission or Habitat for Humanity.
In the evening, join as at Scallywags for a drink on Hillel. (Your volunteering gets you the drink ticket!)
When: Thursday February 23rd (one opportunity is offered on the 22nd!)
Where: The location depends on which volunteering agency you choose! Click the link below to see our list of options. Drinks will be starting at 8pm at Scallywags (Yonge and St. Clair area.)

Reena
Time: 10:00AM – 2:00PM
Capacity: 2 people
Address: 36 Harbord Street (Spadina & Harbord)
This is a program for young adults with developmental disabilities. Activities will include socializing with the group, leading games and other activities. This is a very social group and the members typically enjoy getting to know new people.
Dani Centre
Time: 12:00PM – 4:00PM
Capacity: 2 people
Address: 501 Clark Ave W, Thornhill, ON L4J 4E5 (Clark & Hilda)
The Dani Centre offers vocational training, practical life skills, educational, recreational and social programs in a community based setting for adults, who have special needs. Students will have the opportunity to volunteer directly with the Dani Centre participants and assist them in their recreational activities.
JIAS (Jewish Immigrant Aid Services)
Time: 1:00PM -4:00PM
Capacity: 5 people
Address: 4600 Bathurst Street (Bathurst & Sheppard)
JIAS Toronto is a government and community funded immigrant service organization providing comprehensive services to 8,000 immigrants a year. Students will have an opportunity to get creative and help make decorations and prepare for the JIAS Purim Party.
Reaching Up Homework
Time: 3:30PM – 6:30PM
Capacity: 15 people
Address: 1830 Finch Avenue West, Toronto (Jane & Finch)
The Reaching Up Homework Club is an after-school program that helps school-aged-children (Grades 1-8) complete their homework with the support of Reaching Up staff. It is an ideal option for working parents or new immigrant families with language barriers who are unable to assist their children with challenging homework tasks.
Scott Mission
Time: 9:15AM – 12:15PM
Capacity: 15 people
Address: 502 Spadina Avenue (Spadina & College)
The Scott Mission is a non-denominational Christian organization responding to the needs of the poor, homeless, abandoned and vulnerable of all ages. The Mission offers practical, emotional and spiritual support to thousands of people every year – and everyone is welcome regardless of their faith background. The positions needed for this volunteering opportunity are for food serving and the clothing bank.
Habitat for Humanity
Time: 8:00AM – 4:00PM
Capacity: 10 people
Address: 140 Pinery Trail in Scarborough
