This past month has been jam-packed with events – a large variety of students were engaged in events that captured the attention of many. We had a sweet and happ-bee Rosh Hashanah by visiting the local bee apiary at the Black Creek Pioneer Village, a lovely bowling social where we got to schmooze and meet new people, we launched our On One Foot campaign with a photo-shoot of our enthusiastic team, our very own Froshies got a warm-welcome from us at the Frosh Board Games Night, celebrated Sukkot together with JLIC under the Sukkah, and finally, had a meaningful interfaith dialogue with the Ahmadiyya Muslim Students Association.
Did you happen to miss an event and wish you were there? Not to worry! Starting in November, we’ll be hosting recurring events like trivia games, meditation, frosh events, tikkun olam, open mic nights, Hebrew meetups, and more. We can’t wait to hang out with all of you! And not to mention, we’re entering the month of Movember, so we moustache-you to keep an eye out and see how YOU can participate!
Last but not least, Holocaust Education Week (HEW) is coming up and we want to open up the gates to every student to learn about the atrocities that occurred and be able to pass the information on to other students and generations. As part of HEW, we’ll have a discussion with Dr. Kori Street regarding pivotal moments in the experiences of LGBTQ+ in the Holocaust, survivors Sally Koffman and Max Eisen will join us to speak about their experiences, Lucy Kleinerman (our Israel Fellow) will host a discussion about the Holocaust and Israel as part of Conversations With Lucy, and we’ll be partnering with Glendon to listen to survivor Faige Libman speak as well.
We look forward to seeing everyone’s faces – so come out to our events, bring all your friends, and like us on Facebook and drop by the Lounge (Student Centre – Room 442) to stay up to date with events that are on the way!
